A successful global brand – the China Products Exhibition – is being launched in Sri Lanka for the first time. The first edition of The China Products (Colombo, Sri Lanka) Exhibition will be held from 20-22 November at Sri Lanka Exhibition & Convention Centre (SLECC) in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
The China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) has been successfully organising a similar trade show for more than a decade in India, Bangkok and Brazil. The core concept is to provide direct opportunity to the business community to connect with leading Chinese suppliers of quality products.
This B2B multi-products trade show is being organised by China International Exhibition Centre Group Corporation (a subsidiary of CCPIT – China Council for the Promotion of International Trade), Guangdong Chamber of Commerce of Importers and Exporters and co-organised by Worldex Fiera Milano Exhibitions (Guangzhou) Co. Ltd. and Worldex India Exhibition & Promotion Ltd. and endorsed and supported by the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL). The China Products (Colombo Sri Lanka) Exhibition 2015 is the biggest platform for Sri Lankan and Chinese entrepreneurs to interact with each other, and is a platform for the Sri Lankan industry to explore long-term business associations with Chinese companies in the form of tie-ups, joint ventures, collaborations and import-export trading relations.
Trade relations between Sri Lanka and China are quite strong. Chinese participation in the Sri Lankan economy is also considerably significant. China is the second largest supplier to Sri Lanka. Imports to Sri Lanka from China have increased from $ 630 million in 2005 to $ 3.414 billion in 2014 covering 18% of total imports to the island. In 2014, Sri Lanka’s main import items are woven fabric, electrical and electronic products, petroleum products, and telephone sets.
The China Products (Colombo, Sri Lanka) Exhibition would showcase an extensive range of products from leading manufacturers from Guangdong, Fujian, Hunan, Chengdu, Sichuan and other provinces of China displaying Consumer Electronics, Home Appliances, LED and Lighting, Building Materials, Tools and Hardware, Machinery, Furniture and Homeware, Hospitality products, etc.
The strength of the China Products Exhibition is that it will enable SMEs as well as large entrepreneurs, conglomerate and group companies to source quality and innovative Chinese products in their own country; multiple products across sectors are available under one roof; Sri Lankan business people can research the advantages of bringing new product lines or even new businesses to their country and business people can directly meet and speak to manufacturers to understand quality and options. Thus, it would provide a great opportunity for Sri Lankan business community from across sectors to interact with relevant Chinese counterparts.
