The Lanka Sathosa retail network that targets the mass consumer of Sri Lanka tied up with the top two telcos in the country – Mobitel and Dialog – which reached 15 million consumers of Sri Lanka about the special consumer prices the retail chain can offer a consumer.
White sugar priced at Rs. 87 per kilogram, samba rice at Rs. 80 and sprats at Rs. 495 are the prices that one can avail oneself in the shopping experience at Lanka Sathosa apart from the special prices of 127 products from Unilever, Nestle, Reckitt Benckiser, Anchor, Hemas, Darley Butlers, Prima, and Maliban just to name a few.
This was launched from the Lanka Sathosa outlet in Vavuniya on 15 March, Consumer Rights Day 2016, by Minister of Industry and Commerce Rishad Bathiudeen in the presence of the senior officials of Mobitel and Dialog and Lanka Sathosa Chairman Dr. Rohantha Athukorala.
“Lanka Sathosa from an average sale of 1.5 billion a month has crossed Rs. 2.7 billion and we are now aiming to achieve Rs. 4 billion in the festive period so that we move to a breaking-even situation,” said Athukorala.
“It is a challenge given that the organisation is under heavy loans incurred on the importation of rice that took place in 2014. I thank the private sector for supporting this State organisation that caters to the lower end of the spectrum and ensuring its continuity. We will make Lanka Sathosa the leader in the retail network with the extension of outlets from the current 310 to 500 outlets with the Treasury allocation as per the National Budget 2016.”
The partnership will include the Mcash and Ezycash facility at the Lanka Sathosa outlets that will pave the way to all utility bills being paid and the many promotional opportunities that will be extended to the Lanka Sathosa customers with this partnership.
