KPMG’s Middle East & South Asia (MESA) Regional Office on Tuesday announced that its 10th Middle East & South Asia Partners’ Conference will be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka in November this year.
Hossam Amin Fahmy, Chief Operating Officer of KPMG’s MESA Regional Office commented that the Partners’ Conference is a key event in the firm’s calendar. He added that the event is expected to bring together over one hundred Partners from KPMG offices in 15 countries representing over 5,000 professionals and associates working in KPMG member firms across the region.
Several members of KPMG’s Global Leadership team will also attend the Conference to discuss regional strategy, industry developments and the future direction of the member firms in the region.
“We are also very pleased to announce that KPMG’s Global Chairman, Michael Andrew will attend the event in his first visit to both Sri Lanka and the MESA Region since his appointment as the Global Chairman of KPMG recently,” Fahmy added.
In addition, key delegates attending the conference includes Rolf Nonnenmacher, Chairman – KPMG’s Europe, Middle East, Africa and India (EMA) region, Jean-Paul Thill, Chief Executive Officer – KPMG’s EMA region and Jamal Fakhro, Chairman – KPMG’s Middle East & South Asia Region.
Fahmy added: “KPMG’s network has devoted strong emphasis to emerging markets and Sri Lanka is indeed one of our key markets. We have seen strong economic growth in the region which was also relatively resilient to the global financial crisis. We believe that Sri Lanka could emerge to become a key trading hub and a popular tourist destination.”
Commenting on KPMG’s presence and focus in the region he added that the local member firm has a history dating back over a century and also a unique blend of talent and diversity. “The local member firm is one of the largest KPMG practices in the region which we continue to work with closely.”
Commenting on the event, KPMG Sri Lanka’s Senior Partner Nirmal Fernando added that the firm was both honoured and pleased to be the host practice for this year’s MESA Partners’ Conference which was last held in Sri Lanka in 2003.
