Kasturi Chellaraja Wilson has been appointed Managing Director of Hemas Transportation Sector which consist Hemas Travels, Airline Representation, Shipping and Maritime and Freight and Logistics.
Hemas ranks among the top five travel agencies in the country and is the leader in the airline representation industry, with the sector contributing approximately 20% to the overall turnover of the Group.
A fellow member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accoutants, Kasturi began her career as a Audit Trainee at Someswaran Jayewickreme and Co. (SJMS), and was the Director Consulting and Audit Manager at SJMS .Prior to joining Hemas in 2002 she was the Financial Controller at Confifi Hotels.
Kasturi joined Hemas Group as General Manager – Finance for Hemtours (a subsidiary of Hemas) and has held positions of Director Finance Hemtours, Head of Shared Services, and Chief Processing Officer of Hemas Holdings prior to her new appointment as Managing Director of Hemas Transportation Sector.
She was also appointed to the Group Operating Committee in 2008 and appointed to the Board of Management in July 2011.
She has spearheaded many challenging projects for the group and won many prestigious awards for Hemas Group including the SAP award for Best Templated Implementation.
Kasturi is a well known sports personality having represented the National Women’s Basket Ball Team at the Asian Games from 1989 to 1991.
She also captained the Sri Lanka Junior Women’s Basket Ball Team at the Asian Championships in Manila in 1989 and captained the Western Province Netball Team.
