Juliana Hotel fined

The owner of the Juliana Hotel in Kollupitiya was yesterday ordered to pay a fine of Rs. 150,000 by a Colombo Court for possessing a stock of illegally imported cigarettes.

When the owner of the hotel, a Chinese national, was produced before court on charges of having possessed 380 illegally imported cigarettes in his possession, the accused pleaded guilty to the charge. The accused had been arrested by the Kollupitiya police with 380 illegally imported cigarettes.
