Sri Lanka’s leading conglomerate, John Keells Holdings PLC (JKH) has once again powered the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) with a lead sponsorship for 2013.
As a lead sponsor, JKH will supports the institute’s diverse activities including its long term educational development in the sphere of accounting which will benefit the institute’s 4300 members and over 41,000 students who are currently studying CA Sri Lanka’s globally recognised chartered accountancy qualification.
John Keells Holdings has been CA Sri Lanka’s lead sponsor since 2007.
JKH Group Finance Director Ronnie Peiris handed over the sponsorship cheque to CA Sri Lanka President Sujeewa Rajapakse at a ceremony held recently.
Peiris said that JKH was delighted to continue its lead sponsorship of CA Sri Lanka.
“CA Sri Lanka is a well-established institution in developing the local accountancy profession, and has produced many qualified accountants, serving both locally and internationally, who are well girded to face the challenges and exploit the opportunities of the volatile local and global economies,” he noted.
“We at JKH are committed to our core values, which in essence, is to be innovative, to challenge ourselves constantly by raising the bar, to lead by example in ethical business practices, and to foster an environment which makes JKH a great place to work,” he said.
He also noted that in building this partnership, JKH hopes that CA Sri Lanka will facilitate the natural entrenchment of professionalism in accountants because there is an urgent need to enhance the ability of accounting professionals in the country, to act with conviction, integrity, openness and transparency and in line with ethical business practices and to not simply comply with accounting rules and reporting guidelines. Welcoming JKH on board, CA Sri Lanka President Sujeewa Rajapakse expressed his delight in partnering with the country’s largest listed conglomerate once again as the lead sponsor for the year 2013.
“As one of the country’s leading professional bodies, we are most honoured by the faith placed in us by Sri Lanka’s largest listed conglomerate on the Colombo Stock Exchange. This will be a mutually beneficial partnership to both organisations,” Rajapakse noted.
He also stressed that all conceivable effort will be taken to ensure the upliftment of chartered accountants and future chartered accountants by providing the required facilities and services including knowledge-sharing initiatives which are important for their long term professional development.
