Iranian assistance helpful to boost historic relations — Minister Bathiudeen

Sri Lanka is most thankful for development assistance from Iran. The assistance from Iran is also a major factor in strengthening our historical relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran says Rishad Bathiudeen, Minister of Industry and Commerce.

Minister Bathiudeen said this when he met Dr. Ali Akbar Salehi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran on 15 May at the Ministry of  Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic  of Iran, Tehran. Minister Bathiudeen was accompanied by the Sri Lankan Ambassador in Iran, M.M. Zuhair.

Minister Bathiudeen also thanked Imam Khomeini Relief Foundation of Iran for extending relief and rehabilitation assistance to the displaced populace in Sri Lanka. During the discussion both Ministers had extensive discussions on matters of mutual cooperation. Minister Bathiudeen also briefed Iranian Foreign Minister Dr. Ali Akbar Salehi on Sri Lanka’s new progress and development outlook under the leadership of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
