Signifying another milestone of the Post-War development in Sri Lanka, the Jaffna International Trade Fair 2012 has been declared open yesterday by Douglas Devananda, the Minister of Traditional Industries & Small Enterprise Development.
The Jaffna International Trade Fair (JITF), which is focused on marketing the opportunities in the virgin market of Jaffna peninsula to private entrepreneurs, will be held till the 22nd of January at Durayappah Stadium Premises, Jaffna.
Having foreseen the possible tourism promotion opportunities in this potential market, Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau was one of the first to set up a stall in this fair and thereby to showcase mesmerizing Jaffna and its tourist attractions to both local and foreign tourists.
Out of more than 150 stalls in the fair, the palmyrah-decorated stall of the SLTPB itself was a symbol of the uniqueness of Jaffna and its culture. It was one of the eye-catchers of the Ministers during their observation tour.
This fair will also provide a very good opportunity to both international and local investors to make an entry into the Jaffna Peninsula or to expand their already established enterprises.
