The Exporters Association of Sri Lanka (EASL) will hold an interactive forum on Flexible Exchange Rates on 28 February from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at the Golden Pond, Taj Samudra Hotel.
An eminent panel consisting of Dr. W. A. Wijewardena, Dr. Indrajith Coomaraswamy, Dr. Anila Dias Bandaranaike and Deshal De Mel will address the forum.
The forum aims to assist exporters understand the impact of the changeover to flexible exchange rates from the stable regime which was in place during the last few years.
The discussions will be of value to all stakeholders involved in exports seeking to capitalise on the opportunities and address the challenges as a result of the new exchange rate policy.
Ancillary and connected issues such as interest rates and the anticipated general increase in price levels will also be addressed.
Exporters have, for a very long time, lobbied to have a ‘realistic exchange rate’ but the introduction of the new policy has compelled the community to change their strategies.
It is anticipated that this event will help unravel (some if not all) the implications whilst directing exporters towards developing fresh management skills to handle the opportunities and identifying some of the difficulties they could encounter going forward.
EASL said it is therefore vital that exporters make use of this opportunity to hone the management skills of their organisations by being present at this very important event.
