Individual team edges out top corporates to emerge runners up at Global Commerce Quiz

Sri Lanka’s first ever Global Commerce Quiz for the Governor’s Challenge Trophy was recently at the Hotel Ceylon Continental. Some 250 contestants from 50 teams representing banks and financial institutions, mercantile firms, public sector organizations, schools/educational institutes and independent teams took part in this keenly contested event.

The competition also created history by attracting international teams representing Central Banks from Bangladesh, India, Maldives and Pakistan.

The quiz was Launched by the Shippers Academy (SA) Colombo and conducted by the International Quizzing Association (IQA) Sri Lanka branch, and was endorsed by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka and International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), Sri Lanka chapter.

An individual team of quiz enthusiasts led by Imran Furkan and comprising Riyad Riffai, Abdul Hafeel, Kasun Ariyadasa and Roshan Fernando emerged runners up in the prestigious competition defeating 48 other teams including many top corporates and experienced quiz teams at the event to the eventual winners Seylan Bank.
