IFC pledges fullest cooperation to Sri Lanka

A high-profile delegation led by Executive Vice President and CEO of International Finance Corporation (IFC) Lars H. Thunell, met Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa yesterday at the Parliament premises.



IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, is working with policymakers and private sector players to help meet Sri Lanka’s ongoing development agenda through public-private partnerships. Sri Lanka is a focus country for IFC’s program in South Asia. IFC’s committed development programs in the country covers projects across a range of sectors-including infrastructure, tourism, renewable energy, banking, and healthcare.

IFC also provides advisory support to small and medium enterprises, promoting sustainable growth among small and medium enterprises by facilitating access to finance and offering capacity-building and training opportunities.

Thunell stated that International Finance Corporation would give its fullest cooperation to post-conflict resettlement, reconciliation and development in Sri Lanka.

IFC Director for South Asia Thomas S. Davenport also took part in the discussion.
