Chery in known in Sri Lanka for the QQ Compact (small) car. Having sold over one million QQs worldwide the model name QQ is synonymous with Chery. However, Chery’s product line goes far beyond the QQ with more than 30 models in worldwide production including electric cars.
The fundamentals of the Chery brand such as excellent research, development and design capability, the ability to manufacture its own engines and transmissions, superior built quality, warranty support and spare parts availability along with Chery’s achievements as stated in the 2014 Chery Automobile Company Overview, “The first car came off the production line on 18 December 1999 and on 27 July 2011, the three-millionth car of Chery rolled out the assembly line successfully. At present, Chery possesses an annual production capacity of 900,000 cars,” has led to much confidence in investing in the Chery brand.
Chery has developed its own technology in CVT transmissions, Variable Valve Timing 
(VVT), common rail fuel injection, traction control, Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and many other technologies. Chery is also the manufacturing partner for Jaguar and Land Rover in China, which stands to benefit the Chery brand by way of hi-tech input.
Ideal Chery Automobiles Ltd. is a fully-owned subsidiary company of the Ideal Group, which has core business interests in motor franchise imports and motor spare parts in Sri Lanka.
Ideal Chery commenced operations in January 2014 as the Sole Authorised Distributor for Chery motor vehicles manufactured by Chery Automobile Company Ltd. of China.
Ideal Chery Automobile is committed to establishing the ‘Chery’ brand in Sri Lanka with a particular emphasis on after care – country-wide service, repair and spare parts availability. A fully-equipped central workshop and central spare-parts store with trained personnel and the ability to carry out general service, mechanical and electrical repair and accident repair 
has been established in close proximity to Colombo City limits at No. 75, Kandawala Road, Ratmalana.
The country-wide service and spare parts dealer network extends to 10 partner locations as at 28 April with a further 11 Ideal Group-owned Regional Repair Centres functioning as localised service and repair facilities.
Ideal Chery has also established exceptional brand visibility by constructing a state-of-the-art, dedicated Chery showroom in the heart of Colombo City’s commercial district at No. 131, Union Place, Colombo 2. The Ideal Chery sales network will initially consist of the Colombo, Kurunegala and Matara showrooms and will rapidly expand to other key cities and townships in the first year of operation.
