IDB promotes domestic livelihood industrial projects

The Industrial Development Board (IDB) has initiated programs to promote domestic livelihood industrial projects. These programs consists of 14 domestic livelihood enhancement activities. They include food technology, manufacture of leather products, garment industry, coir based industries, cement and clay products, kitul industry, light engineering, etc. Accordingly a program has already been commenced in Matara District at Divisional Secretariat Division level to train selected youth in the above fields and at the end of the training they will be provided with a tool kit worth over Rs. 30,000. Already over 1,000 have been given training.
