Executive Director of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW) Robin Fieth recently paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of the Central Bank Ajith Nivard Cabraal along with Secretary/ CEO of CA Sri Lanka, Aruna Alwis; contact member in Sri Lanka for ICAEW, Jerome Chanmugam; and Tony Hegarty and Jennifer Thomson from the World Bank.
During his visit he also met a cross section of business leaders in Sri Lanka where had the opportunity to understand and discuss in detail the current market trends and developments both locally and globally.
Chanmugam and the Member Relations division of CA Sri Lanka facilitated and coordinated Fieth’s visit and the line-up of meetings.
Fieth was also one of the six eminent speakers featured at the 32nd National Conference of Chartered Accountants held recently which was a mark of the long and mutual relationship that the two accounting bodies have fostered over the years.
ICAEW was also the sponsor of the President’s’ Cocktail held during the second day of the conference. Expressing his views Fieth stated, “The conference gave ICAEW an excellent opportunity to help Sri Lankan corporates in managing the complex issues and volatilities facing the world today and we will continue to work closely with CA Sri Lanka in uplifting the profession,” and commented on the technical and thought leadership support and resources that ICAEW can offer finance professionals in Sri Lanka.
