HC restrains Ansel Lanka from interfering with employees reporting to work

The Provincial High Court of the Western Province holden in Gampaha on 1 January issued an Interim Order restraining the Ansel Lanka Ltd. from giving effect to the purported letters of vacation of post and termination. The Provincial High Court Judges of Gampaha Bandula Wijesinghe and S. Thassimalso in the said order restrained the Ansel Lanka Ltd. from interfering with the Plaintiffs-Petitioners Employees from reporting to work at the Defendant – Respondent Company Ansel Lanka Ltd. The Interim Order was issued valid till 16 January sequent to the appeal from the District Court of Gampaha wherein the District Court Judge Pradeep Jayatilake refused the Enjoining Order and notices of Interim Injunction. 51 employees who are members of the Free Trade Zones and General Services Employees’ Union filed their appeal petitions. The petitioners’ applications were supported for the Enjoining Orders and notices of Interim Injunction before the District Court. The District Court Judge refused the petitioners’ applications for enjoining orders and notices of Interim Injunctions. Being aggrieved by the said order, petitioners filed appeal from the said orders. They cited Ansel Lanka Ltd as Defendant-Respondent. Farman Cassim with Charaka Jayaratne instructed by Lanka Dharmasiri appeared for the Plaintiff-Petitioners.
