Hasitha Thilakeratne has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) due the resignation of previous Chairman Dr. R.M.K. Ratnayake.
Thilakeratne had served as the Chairman of the National Gem and Jewellery Authority and Laksala. He is the second person who appointed for this position within this year.
The ex-Chairman of the CAA Ratnayake submitted his resignation on Thursday and said that he had decided to resign for personal reasons.
However, media reports claimed the Industry and Commerce Ministry’s decision of marking new Maximum Retail Prices (MRPs) for six essential consumer goods had caused his immediate resignation.
