E.W.A. Harischandra was elected as the new President of the All Ceylon Jewellery and Pawnbrokers’ Association at the special General Meeting held recently. All stakeholders in the jewellery industry in Sri Lanka are represented in this Association, which has a membership of around 2,500.
The newly-elected board of office bearers expressed confidence that Harischandra, who has been given a mandate to steer this important body of industry players, will initiate concrete measures to resolve the problems confronting the jewellery trade.
Harischandra is the Chairman of Leela Jewellers Group of Companies, Homagama and Umaya Enterprises. He is the incumbent Governor of Lions Club International 306C 2 District for the year 2014/15. He also serves as the President of the Homagama Common Traders’ Association. In addition, he is the President of the Dayaka Sabhawa of Dompe Sri Vijaya Anandaramaya.
An old boy of Mahanama Vidyalaya, Colombo, Harischandra is the son of the late E.W.A. Leeladasa, who was a well-known social worker and philanthropist in the Homagama area.
