Colombo: Foreign Employment and Welfare Minister Dilan Perera says the country’s foreign employment agencies would be rated from next year.
Perera has said the agencies will be graded into star classes based on their merits in providing services.
The move is expected to help foreign employment seekers to select a job agency based on its performance.
Speaking during the ceremony to open the Migration Resource Centre (MRC) of Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE), Perera has said the SLBFE would also be modernised and computerised before the end of next year. The MRC, a 24-hour information centre is expected to act as an e-ombudsman to facilitate and pacify migrant workers as well as their relatives and all others who are directly or indirectly connected with foreign employment.
The Centre will also cater to overseas employment seekers to find out the legitimacy of Sri Lankan Foreign Employment Agencies, maximum charges of these recruitment agencies, details of contracts etc. (www.colombopage.com)
