German giant Würth Group Chairman to visit Colombo

Würth Group, the innovative market leader in the trade of assembly and fastening material, announced that the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Würth Group Family Trust Prof. Reinhold Würth will be visiting Colombo this week to celebrate the 15th Anniversary of Würth Lanka which is a significant milestone, and to meet with employees. Prof. Würth, the 78 year old entrepreneur and qualified pilot, will fly himself and his team on this tour to Asia which also includes visits to China and India.

Established in 1945 by his father as a family business, Reinhold Würth joined his father at Würth as a young apprentice and was the second employee at the tender age of 15 in post-war Germany. He took over the reins of his father’s company in 1954, and with innovation, farsightedness and determination, he established operations in 80 countries. Würth’s first overseas subsidiaries were set up in the Netherlands, Austria and Switzerland in 1962 and expanded to over 400 companies worldwide. “The phenomenal success of Würth can be attributed to its core philosophies of family values, continuous innovation, quality beats price concept and inspiring customers,” said Country Head for Würth Lanka Ltd. and Würth Group India Rohan Amirthiah who has been with the Würth Group for over 15 years since its inception in Sri Lanka. In 1999/2000, Reinhold Würth was bestowed the Chair of Entrepreneurship by the University of Karlsruhe. The university subsequently bestowed an honorary doctorate and professorship on Reinhold Würth, in recognition of his entrepreneurial work. A unique characteristic of the Würth culture is to fusion arts and culture, which is also Reinhold Wurth’s passion, with corporate culture by establishing museums, event halls for lectures, conferences, concerts, readings and cabaret being integrated to the Würth Group’s administrative buildings in several locations. “We are delighted to host Prof. Reinhold Würth on our 15th Anniversary, and we consider this as a rare and prestigious opportunity” said Amirthiah. “I am confident that his visit will inspire us and provide valuable insights to our business here in Sri Lanka” he continued.
