The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce takes a keen interest in the development of the Nation’s Human Resources with a view to enhancing Sri Lanka’s overall competitiveness; and narrowing the market gap for Human Resources in the Private Sector, in particular.
In pursuit of these objectives the Chamber has over the years established a dialogue between the Private and the Public Sectors. The Chamber plans to conduct a workshop entitled ‘Forging partnerships with Universities in the Commercial arena’ with the participation of local Universities to encourage greater collaboration between the academia and the Private Sector. This workshop stems from the earlier workshop titled ‘Sharing Best Practices’, hosted by the Chamber, wherein the local Universities shared amongst each other work they had undertaken to improve and inculcate the best way of conducting activities.
The workshop seeks to showcase the work undertaken by the Public Sector Universities for the private with the objective of encouraging others in the Private Sector and also other local Universities to undertake such activities and seeks to bridge the perceived gap between the private sector needs and what the local Universities offer. All University Vice Chancellors and Deans of all the Faculties have been invited for this event along with some of the leading private sector organisations. This event will also set the platform for further areas of collaboration between the Private Sector and the local Universities at the upcoming Sri Lanka Economic Summit in July 2013.
The event will take place on 10 May 2013 at the Auditorium of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce at 3:00p.m. For more information or if you are keen to participate, please contact Manjula at the Chamber on 5588880.
