A delegation from the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Shanghai Pudong Sub-Council of Shanghai Pudong Chamber of International Commerce visited the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL) on Monday, 4 April 2011.
Established in September 1993, Shanghai Pudong Sub-Council is one of the China Councils for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT). The CCPIT aims at promoting activities of trade, investment and cooperation in economy and technology between China and other countries and regions all over the world, so as to enhance the mutual understanding and friendship between the Chinese and the people from other countries and regions as well as economic and trade circles.
The delegation which comprised 10 members represented manufacturing and marketing of furniture, glassware, LAD chips, wedding dresses and automobile industries and was headed by Chen Bing Hui, Chairman of CCPIT. The delegation had fruitful discussions with Tissa Jayaweera - President, Board members and senior officials of FCCISL.
During the discussion, interest was shown in investing in Sri Lanka, and Jayaweera explained current opportunities in the country with a specific emphasis on booming industries, market forces and labour market standards. A Cooperation Agreement was signed by the President of FCCISL and Chairman of CCPIT in order to facilitate trade promotions between the two countries.
