Being able to sample fantastic cuisine as you do your weekly shopping? Yes that’s the dream – who wouldn’t want to be able to nibble on gourmet delights when you’re picking up packs of your favourite foods? Well it’s not a dream anymore. This 23rd, 24th and 25th August, the BMICH Exhibition Centre will be transformed into the largest supermarket and trade fair Sri Lanka has ever witnessed. Comprising processed food, beverage, packaging and agriculture, the 12th annual Pro Food/Pro Pack show together with the 8th annual Agbiz exhibition is set to take the city by storm as it welcomes one and all into the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall. With a title themed ‘From the Farm to the Kitchen’, the show will be guaranteed to take you on a culinary journey unlike any other. This popular exhibition will showcase products and services of each and every component in the processed foods and packaging industry. From the birth of a product to its final stage of completion, you will be granted a first-hand look at the intricate mechanisms that go into the making of the food you eat and the products you buy. The event last year attracted over 40,000 visitors who gathered under a single platform to network and exchange ideas on their favourite products. Special discounts were on offer for favourite brands of food and drink, which made the fair ‘the’ must visit destination with everyone choosing to do their weekly shopping at this one-stop-wonder store. The Sri Lanka Food Processes Association said that as in the past, the Exhibition will be a central meeting point of ‘consumers and producers’. Presidential Award Winning Company, Lanka Exhibition and Conference Services General Manager Aasim Mukthar stated that “Pro food/Pro Pack and Agbiz 2013 is the only ‘one stop shop’ for any requirement and service needs related to the processed food, packaging and agriculture industry and therefore will feature almost all phases that make a distinct part of the final product that is made available to the consumer.” The exhibition this year as in the past years will be running the popular ‘Cooking Studio’, comprising of renowned chefs from Cinnamon Grand, one of Sri Lanka’s leading five star hotels. A special mix of oriental, eastern and western dishes will be crafted to tantalise the taste buds of all those present. Special hourly raffle draws, discounts ranging from 20%-60% on food and beverage, kiddies corner, sampling of consumer favourites from pasta’s to chocolates and many more will be available to all who visit. The organisers of the event have ensured maximum participation from all partners and players of the industry in order to provide the visitor an entire and comprehensive outlook of the inner workings. The organisers wish to thank their valued sponsors namely Platinum Sponsors Elephant House and PCL Solutions; Gold Sponsors, Nikini Automation and Wijeya Products and Silver Sponsor, Roza Macaroni; Official Banker, Nations Trust Bank; Official Insurance Provider, Sanasa Insurance Company and the Official Printing Partner Sharp Printing Holdings. International pavilions from India and China, together with exhibitors from Malaysia, Dubai, Singapore and Pakistan will be on show during the three days to add colour and flavour to the event. Therefore, keep the 23rd, 24th and 25th of August free to indulge in delicious food, beverage and insane discounts on all your supermarket shopping favourites. ‘From the Farm to the Kitchen’ will effectively be a ‘must’ visit multi-event celebration of food and beverage.
