FACETS Sri Lanka 2015, the 25th International Gem & Jewellery Show, will take place from 3-6 September at the BMICH.

A media conference was held in Colombo yesterday to officially launch the flagship event of the Sri Lanka Gem & Jewellery Association, which will be the 25th Silver Jubilee Anniversary of the show.

“We are expecting over a 10,000 foot fall this year throughout the four days of the exhibition. A large number of buyers from China have confirmed whilst over 100 international buyer delegations are expected to attend the show from China, India, Dubai, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, USA, Russia, Norway and Germany,” said FACETS Sri Lanka Chairman Juzar Adamaly.

According to Adamaly, FACETS Sri Lanka plays a major role in making Colombo a regional gem and jewellery hub, and Sri Lanka the “Sapphire Capital of the World”. Over 50 Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are also tipped to take part in FACETS Sri Lanka 2015, with local businesses given “ample opportunity” to showcase their capabilities to buyers from around the world, as well as access to knowledge on technology, process and best practices.

“We would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the continuous support by the National Gem and Jewellery Association (NGJA) and the Export Development Board (EDB) throughout all our initiatives locally and internationally,” added Adamaly, noting that the SME sector plays a vital role within the entire gem and jewellery industry.

Moreover in a bid to increase its international profile, extensive promotions are underway in Hong Kong, China and the USA to attract exclusive buyers to the show, where wholesalers and producers from other gemstone producing countries are also expected to exhibit their gemstones.
