As the leading global manufacturer of Black Seed products which are used extensively in ayurvedic health care treatments, Expolanka’s Bio Extracts continues to fuse innovative technological solutions with age-old herbal remedies and continues to promote and distribute its Baraka range of Black Seed products worldwide. The manufacturing of Expolanka’s Bio Extracts product line is carried out under the supervision of a highly qualified and experienced team of technical staff and consultants.  With more than 25 approved products marketed in local supermarket chains as well as internationally (USA, UK, Russia, Australia, South Africa and Saudi Arabia to name a few), Bio Extracts’ Baraka brand range has experienced encouraging results over the years.

CEO of Bio Extracts Ltd, Riza Bahardeen states that, ‘With the incorporation of Bio Extracts (Pvt.) Ltd. a decade ago, we ventured into herbal healthcare with a vision of developing a range of herbal remedies to help people lead a happy and healthy life. The year on year development and growth has made Expolanka’s Bio Extracts, rank amongst the top three herbal manufacturers in Sri Lanka.  We also export our products to 30 international destinations and are the leading global manufacturer of Black Seed products.’ As a leader of effective herbal remedies, Bio Extracts’ new facility will help its product range to attain further growth and will allow Bio Extracts to undertake contract packaging for other major large local and international brands. Baraka range of products has gone through stringent quality and regulatory requirements in many foreign countries to register its products under with the relevant regulatory authorities.

Bio Extracts is constantly engaging in the research and development of new Black Seed herbal formulations. Black Seed (Nigella Sativa) has a remedial history dating back 2500 years; its medicinal properties have been recognized and used in herbal medicines for centuries.  Scientist recently confirmed the anti-bacterial and anti-viral effects of black seed oil and it has been traditionally used for a variety of conditions and treatments related to respiratory health, stomach and intestinal health, kidney and liver function, circulatory and immune system support, and for general overall well-being.

With the world’s population growing older and healthcare expenses continuing to rise, alternative and complimentary therapies have become increasingly popular treatment options. Now more than ever, consumers are searching for products that will help them feel healthier, reduce the effects of aging and boost their immune systems. It is estimated that between 65-80 percent of the world’s population (about 3 billion people) rely on traditional (alternative) medicine as their primary form of health care.  With Herbal remedies falling under the umbrella of alternative medicine, Expolanka’s Bio Extracts has benefited from a public openness to alternative medicine within local and international markets. This acceptance has seen the Baraka range of products enjoy a steady growth over the years. With a vision to become the undisputed leader in the ‘natural healthcare’ industry in Sri Lanka, Expolanka’s Bio Extracts is planning to utilize its newest facility and future operations to expand its current product range and enter new international markets.
