Commenting on the award Head of Marketing, Corporate Communications and CSR Paddy Weerasekera stated: “Sustainability is in the heart of our business. Our sustainability strategy covers a wide range of areas including environmental impact, social responsibility, IT governance and human capital development. We continue to focus on being a group that practice and report sustainability on the triple bottom line in accordance with GRI guidelines. We will continue to not only adhere to these guidelines but also remain true to the cause.”
In adjudging sustainability reporting, ACCA Sri Lanka measures detailed description given by participating organisations on practices connected to sustainable development, its impacts, including GRI guidelines, posted key performance indicators accompanied by measured results and external benchmarks.
Expolanka sustainability report described the Group’s holistic approach to sustainability giving factual evidence to detail each area. The report provides clear and concise descriptions of its economic, environmental and social impact to its internal and external stakeholders as well as the Group’s policies, targets and long term objectives towards achieving sustainable development. In line with the global sustainability reporting framework the Group used GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) in presenting the award winning sustainability report. The report is also aligned to the GRI G3.1 principles and meets the application criteria of a self-claimed level of C.
