Expolanka Freight Private Limited, one of Sri Lanka’s largest freight forwarders and a subsidiary of Expolanka Holdings PLC, opened a new branch in Hambantota. The new office facility comes in the wake of Expolanka Freight announcing their partnership with SriLankan Airlines, taking on the role as their Authorised Cargo Agent, to handle logistics and cargo services in Hambantota.
The new branch was opened by Azmi Thassim, Director General of the Chamber of Commerce (Hambantota District), Mahiman Yapa, Cargo Sales Manager of SriLankan Airlines, Jagath Pathirane, Director / CEO, and Gazzali Arifeen, Director of Expolanka Freight.
The new Expolanka Freight branch will be located half a kilometre from the seaport on Suriyawewa Road and will provide total logistics and cargo handling solutions in the Hambantota District for SriLankan Airlines, while also expanding Expolanka’s access points within Sri Lanka to the benefit of its customers.
Expolanka Freight is one of Sri Lanka’s leading freight forwarding companies and has firmly established itself as a premier provider of freight and logistical services for clients across multiple industries.
The current infrastructure of Expolanka Freight supports multi modal transportation and logistics with Ocean and Air transportation as focal business points, along with the provision of supporting services in warehousing, customs clearance & handling, inland trucking and haulage.
Having acquired a highly respected reputation as specialists in freight forwarding, Expolanka Freight has accessed the rapidly developing district of Hambantota in order to further develop its infrastructure across additional routes of transportation, islandwide.
The industry giant will tap into Hambantota’s potential as a crucial bridging point to the commercial capital of Colombo whilst forging a strong working partnership with award winning national carrier, Sri Lankan Airlines.
Expolanka Freight Director/CEO Jagath Pathirane stated: “The opening of an additional Expolanka Freight branch in the fast developing district of Hambantota will tap into a magnitude of potential as the region is crucially located between important ports, Sri Lanka’s second international airport (that is scheduled to open in 2012) and the commercial capital of Colombo.
With Hambantota being developed as an increasingly vital entry point to Sri Lanka, alongside the simultaneous expansion of our operations in the district, the demand for cargo and logistics solutions continues to rise, providing a multitude of potential growth opportunities for Expolanka Freight Private Limited and its loyal clientele.”
