Exide, the number one automotive battery in Sri Lanka, recently appointed well-known musician Sunil Perera of Gypsies as its Brand Ambassador for the forthcoming year.
Exide today stands proud of its heritage and the trust it has built over the years in the minds of its customers. The automotive and motorcycle batteries marketer and distributor has lived and prospered in Sri Lanka for decades now. With its parent brand Brown & Company foraying through deals, mergers and acquisitions, Exide has been grabbing its share of local headlines.
Speaking about the appointment, Sunil Perera commented: “It is a privilege to be associated with a respected brand such as Exide. I am thankful to Browns for selecting me as its Brand Ambassador and I will ensure to give my fullest support to fortify the Exide brand name in Sri Lanka and help out with all upcoming promotional activities.”
Exide is the only battery brand to receive Superbrand status in Sri Lanka. It was also selected as one of the 10 most respected brand names at the 2010 ‘SLIM-Brand Excellence Awards’ and was able to secure the 19th place among the best 100 brands by Brand Finance Sri Lanka. Being included as the only unlisted battery brand name among the best motor accessories brands was another special honour received by Exide.
Senior Vice President for Agri/Battery/Porcelain and New Business Development Panduka Weerasinghe speaking about this venture said: “Brown and Company PLC is committed to further establish Exide, which is internationally famed and holds the largest market share in Sri Lanka. Selecting a much loved artiste like Sunil Perera as the Brand Ambassador is one step in our promotional efforts. We believe he will be able to bring Exide much closer to the people. We welcome Perera to be a part of the Exide Team and look forward in working closely to further strengthen the brand’s presence in Sri Lanka.”
