Etisalat Lanka recently gave away its grand prize of three million rupees, to Amila Sampath, a vegetable cultivator from the Kalpitiya District.
Upon the conclusion of ‘Mega Cash’, an SMS-based quiz promotion that took place over a period of three months, the farmer’s perseverance had won him the grand prize.
“I’ll buy a vehicle that will help me with my daily farming chores and assist me to complete the construction of my house. I’ve been building it over the years but never thought I could see it to completion.
“I will invest some money to further grow and develop my farming business.” Was his response to how he hopes to spend his ‘Mega Cash’.
The Etisalat customers were quizzed across various areas including sports, history, geography, music and culture, rewarding over eight million rupees as prize money. Daily winners of 72 were rewarded Rs. 30,000, while 11 weekly winners received a cash prize of Rs. 300,000. Commenting on the promotion Etisalat Head of value added services Channa Munasinghe said, “We as a corporate, believe in our continuous commitment towards our customers.
When ‘Mega Cash’ was launched in October, our hope was to encourage customers from all over Sri Lanka to be a part of it and to increase their probability as a winner. The response we received was overwhelming, over a period of merely three months, and we rewarded customers from across the country. We are humbled to reward the grand prize of Rs. 3,000,000 to Amila Sampath of Kalpitiya, who will use the money as an inspiration to achieve his goals and dreams.”
The contest presented customers three chances of winning cash prizes by accumulating points through an SMS.
Winners of the daily prizes and grand prize were randomly selected while the weekly prizes were selected based on the highest points earned, at the end of the week. The promotion was carried out in English, Sinhala and Tamil.
