Elephant House was recognised as one of Sri Lanka’s top 10 business entities at the 2012 CNCI Achiever Awards held at the Cinnamon Grand in Colombo recently. The CNCI (Ceylon National Chamber of Industries) have been hosting these awards for 11 consecutive years, recognising and awarding key Sri Lankan business for their contribution to the economy and country as a whole.
This award comes as no surprise to Elephant House, a pioneering local brand created by Ceylon Cold Stores many decades ago. The CNCI Awards are the benchmark for industrial excellence in Sri Lanka and Elephant House is honoured to add this new accolade to their many achievements over the years, including being one of the few local brands who have surpassed their multinational counterparts operating in Sri Lanka in terms of sales, market share and most importantly – consumer preference.
This year, the CNCI placed added importance on the value of enhancing Sri Lankan brand equity outside the island, especially within the SAARC region. Hence organisations that had opened or expanded business operations into other SAARC countries were especially regarded during the selection process for the 2012 awards. Elephant House Ice Creams’ successful venture outside the island, that has now made them the leading ice cream brand in both Sri Lanka and the Maldives, is a factor that no doubt contributed to Elephant House’s win.
The company has also constantly been recognised by key authorities and bodies over the years, having received some of the most coveted corporate awards in Sri Lanka, including receiving the Gold Award at the National Chamber of Exports (NCE) Awards in 2011 for outstanding performance in the Medium Size Industry Sector and winning the top award at the SLIM NASCO (National Sales Congress) Awards held earlier this year.
