The EDEX Mid Year Expo and Job Fair, organised by the Royal College Union (RCU), will be held on 5 and 6 September at the Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre (SLECC).
With participants and visitor numbers growing year on year, the organisers said that this year’s education platform would feature close to 200 stalls occupied by over 100 local and foreign universities/institutes from over 12 countries, represented directly or through their agents in Sri Lanka, offering placements and spot admissions in diverse disciplines.
Participants and visitors can also benefit from the scholarships offers, discounted course fees and many other special benefits offered by some exhibitors.
EDEX Job Fair, endorsed and supported by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) will feature 40 stalls with scores of leading and most sought after employer organisations showcasing their available job opportunities, with a view of recruiting suitably qualified youth with desirable personal traits and skills.
EDEX Mid-Year Expo Chairman Nadun Chandraratne said that the local educational market needs a major growth in human development and the exhibition would provide information especially to the youth to develop their future career and educational path.
“EDEX is the largest and the most comprehensive education and job exhibition in the country. It is popular among students and job seekers as a destination which can meet many of local and international stakeholders under one roof,” Chandraratne asserted.
The EDEX Job Fair endeavours to address the issues of unemployment and underemployment by creating a conductive environment where youth with potential and the right talents can directly meet potential employers of choice whilst assisting corporates to make use of the vast pool of talent so freely accessible to fill in their vacancies with the finest talented youth in Sri Lanka.
EDEX Chairman Kamal Abeysinghe describing the aim of the exhibition stated that the objective of the project was to create awareness and guide the youth to find their future career and educational opportunities available in the various fields.
Abeysinghe said: “We hope the EDEX exhibition will facilitate career guidance in various fields as well as the pathway to academic, vocational, technical and professional courses and other territory level academic courses.”
The EDEX Careers Pavilion will continue to provide free psychometric testing and seminars will also be conducted on both days, free of charge. These seminars will be interactive and will feature industry professionals, who will share expertise on themes of contemporary importance.
ESOFT Metro Campus and ANC Education will continue their longstanding partnership with EDEX Mid-Year Expo 2015 as Platinum category sponsors, while NIBM and NSBM and CINEC Campus are the Diamond Category Sponsors. Royal Institute of Colombo, Horizon Campus and Northshore College of Business and Technology are the Gold Sponsors supporting the EDEX Mid-Year Expo 2015.
EDEX Expo 2015 is endorsed by the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Higher Education and Research, State Ministry of Youth Affairs, Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Skills Development and Vocational Training and the International Labour Organisation (ILO). The Strategic Partners such as the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) and the Employers’ Federation of Ceylon (EFC) signify its relevance to many industry chambers and employers.
