CIOB, Admaterials S’pore sign MOU to promote green construction

The Ceylon Institute of Builders (CIOB), the premiere body of the building profession in Sri Lanka recently signed an MOU with Admaterials Technologies Ltd of Singapore which is a testing laboratory accredited by the Singapore Accreditation Council and the Singapore Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (SINGLAS), to obtain technical assistance in testing and accreditation of construction materials to promote and develop the green built environment in Sri Lanka. Ceylon Institute of Builders President Dr. Rohan Karunaratne signing the MOU with Admaterials Technologies Executive Director Lu Jin Ping   The MOU was signed during the International Green Building Conference held from 1-3 September 2014 at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre, Singapore. A delegation of CIOB senior members headed by its President, Dr. Rohan Karunaratne was in Singapore to ink the landmark MOU. The MOU covers a wider scope in three major areas of cooperation such as construction material testing, green building materials accreditation/certification and consultancy services. More specifically, the MOU will pave the way for Admaterials Technologies Ltd. of Singapore to carry out testing of construction materials and accreditation/certification of green building materials according to international standards and providing related consultancy services to CIOB and its green building clientele. The Admaterials Technologies Singapore Ltd. will undertake to test and certify Sri Lankan building materials according to international green building standards. The CIOB will award its green mark for building materials that meet the accreditation criteria in collaboration with Admaterials Technologies Singapore Ltd. The MOU is the first of its kind where a Sri Lankan construction industry body has partnered with an international green building materials testing and accreditation body for a comprehensive testing and accreditation program aiming to improve environmental, social and economic sustainability of Sri Lanka’s built environment.
