Ceylon Chamber, Import Section forum on ‘single window system’ tomorrow

The Import Section of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce together with Sri Lanka Customs will hold a forum on 13 January to create industry level awareness about the newly-launched Sri Lanka Customs’ single window system.

The forum, which will see the participation of over 400 participants and is expected to take place at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute, will focus on the operational benefits and the processors involving the new operating system.

The forum, which will be addressed by the top customs officials are designed for exporters, importers, freight forwarders, carriers, traders, logistics providers, container operators, and all in Customs and Port operations. Minister of Finance Ravi Karunanayake launched the single window system on Monday 4 January, enabling Sri Lanka to be in line with the international trade regulations of the World Trade Organisation and the World Customs Organization. The move, the industry believes will help increase the efficiency of the Customs related activities.

Under this new initiative, all public and private sector institutions involved in the import/export sector will be required to follow the new system to fulfill all import or export related regulatory requirements.
