Central Industries clinches Merit award at CNCI Achiever Awards 2013

Central Industries PLC, Sri Lanka’s leading manufacturer of ‘National PVC’ pipes and fittings, has won a merit award for Industrial and Service Excellence in the ‘Extra-large (national level) category’, at the Ceylon National Chamber of Industries (CNCI) Achiever Awards – 2013. The CNCI is the country’s premier industrial chamber. The event organised by the Ceylon National Chamber of Industries to recognise and felicitate local industries and their contribution towards the development of the country was held for the twelfth consecutive year at the Cinnamon Grand hotel recently. The event was graced by the minister of external affairs Prof G.L. Peiris. Central Industries CEO/Director, chartered engineer Newton Wickramasuriya speaking about the award said, “The award received by the company is an endorsement of the excellence of Central Industries’ products and service. The core competency and vision of our company is maintaining the highest standards in all our products. Prior to distribution to the market, all our products go through a finely controlled production process which assures consistent product quality. Our state-of-the-art laboratory carries out stringent tests on all our products. This award is an endorsement for the excellent standards we maintain in our products and also the unmatched service we offer our customers.” Begun in the year 1985, Central Industries PLC was the first Sri Lankan company to receive the Sri Lanka Standards (SLS) certification for its PVC pipes and fittings manufactured and marketed under the ‘National PVC’ brand name. The company also became the first pipes and fittings manufacturer to receive the ISO 9001 certification for quality management systems. Later, Central Industries expanded into the manufacture of electrical switches and accessories under the ‘Krypton’ brand name. ‘Krypton’ is a renowned name not only for switches, sockets and accessories but also breakers, trips and main switches (MCBs and RCCBs). Apart from manufacturing ‘National PVC’ pipes and ‘Krypton’ electrical switches, Central Industries PLC is the sole agent for ‘Hitachi’ power tools from Japan. Central Industries PLC  is a public quoted Company listed on the Colombo Stock Exchange and a member of the prestigious  Central Finance Group which is one of Sri Lanka’s leading finance institutions.
