CEB honours its innovators and best 5S implementers

CEB held its annual productivity and innovation awards ceremony titled Didulana Vidula, which is the main performance related event of CEB, recently under the patronage of the Minister of Power Energy Pavithra Wanniarachchi at the BMICH. The winners of the 2013 innovation competition for the employees and the winning offices of 2013 competition for implementation of 5S were honoured at this ceremony. The gold award for inventions was won by a team of engineers in the generation division for their innovation titled Reverse engineering of communication and HMI systems related to the control system of 115MW Gas Turbine Plant at Kelanitissa which brought a saving of Rs. 41 million to CEB. Four silver awards and four bronze awards too were won by employees of various categories in CEB for their innovations varying from grass-root level to highly technical innovations. The 5S competition was held under eight different categories and 25 offices were honoured for winning places in this competition. Eight offices won first places among them. In addition, first place winners in other national competitions related to performance too were honoured at the ceremony. Implementation of 5S system is a stepping stone for the increase of productivity of CEB employees and CEB as a whole, which will result in efficient and effective service to its customers. Innovation on the other hand will also help in productivity while making a satisfactory workforce as well.
