The visit by the Undergraduates was aimed at gaining more knowledge on the business environment of the country and also to gather information on how chambers operate to help businesses.
During their visit, the students were given an overview of how business chambers operate and also a brief description of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and its services. It is the first and the oldest such organisation in the country.
They were also briefed on the existing business environment in the country and what they should do to explore opportunities and also face challenges in today’s competitive business world.
The students, who are into their third year of the degree program, said that the visit to the Chamber and the information gathered during the familiarisation program was highly useful and will help them to develop a ‘Business Development Plan’, a part of their academic requirements.
“Ceylon Chamber of Commerce has been consistently supporting local schools, universities and educational institutes to fine tune their students’ capacity by enabling such visits, programs etc,” said Ceylon Chamber of Commerce Senior Assistant Secretary General Chandrarathna Vithanage.
