Cargills Food City’s ‘Biggest ever Christmas Gift’ goes to winner from Karapitiya

In yet another first from Cargills Food City, all its customers had the chance to win the ‘Biggest ever Christmas gift’ in 2010.

Ragith Gamage from Galle who emerged the lucky winner of the Grand Draw became the proud owner of a house worth over Rs 15 million located on a 15 perch land.

Gamage who shopped at Karapitiya Cargills Food City to enter and win the Grand Draw, was ceremonially handed over the keys to his new luxury home by Imtiaz Wahid, Managing Director and Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Cargills (Ceylon) PLC.



Wahid noted that Cargills has continued to make its mark as a trailblazer consistently delivering well beyond consumer expectation in every aspect of its business. He said, “At Cargills the way we conduct our businesses in a manner that engages the people is truly unique, and innovation go hand in hand, be it our products, services, or promotions. That has been the hallmark of this exciting promotion as well. Customers who shopped for Rs 3000/= or more at any one of the over 153 Cargills Food City outlets were eligible to enter the Grand Draw. From the millions of coupons dropped at the outlets a winner was picked by Ms. Hemali Ellawela, Group Manager - Human Capital, Cargills on 26 of January 2011 at Cargills Head Office. The official handing over ceremony of the luxury house was held at the CT Gardens, Piliyandala under the patronage of Wahid, Sidath Kodikkara, Chief Operating Officer Retail, Cargills and Pravin David, General Manager- Retail Operations, Cargills.

Kodikara commenting on this unique promotion said, “Cargills Food City has consistently understood and addressed the needs of consumers. This is the foundation of our success and the reason why we are Sri Lanka’s largest and fastest growing supermarket chain. Last season too we came forward with a unique Grand Prize of a luxury house which would fulfill the lifelong dream of a family. Sanjeewa Fernando, Marketing Manager-Retail for Cargills said “From 26th  November to 16th  January customers who shopped for Rs 3000/= or more with the inclusion of any 3 of the nominated brands Pepsi, Nestomalt, Maggi, Clogard, Nimex, Tide, Kist and Cargills Magic Ice cream entered the grand draw to win the luxury house. Also, we gave away Rs.10 million worth of gift vouchers for our instant winners and our valued shoppers were also offered 10% discounts on the total bills for Sampath Bank credit card holders.” David added, “With the expansion plan we have for this year we intend to extend the opportunity of winning bigger rewards to every part of this country.
