The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has begun conducting an awareness program to inform traders on the use of scales to carry out transactions.
According to the law, scales should be used in boutiques and groceries as well as supermarkets. Nevertheless, due to various complaints received by the CAA from consumers, they decided to launch this program.
As the first step, CAA officers conducted an awareness program in Nugegoda to inform traders about using scales. The Authority stated that this program would be conducted all over the country.
