Members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka’s (CA Sri Lanka)- Qatar Chapter recently met President Mahinda Rajapaksa during his state visit to Qatar to participate at the Doha Economic Forum.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of President Rajapaksa’s meeting with Sri Lankan expatriates working in Qatar. The CA Sri Lanka Chapter members including its President Mr. Rizwan Yaseen were introduced to the President by Sri Lanka’s Ambassador in Qatar Mr. Jayantha Palipana.
During the meeting, the President appreciated the efforts made by the Sri Lankan expatriate community and also underscored the importance of the obligations of the expatriate community in ensuring the country achieved its desired development. The President also extended an invitation to the Sri Lankan professionals based in Qatar to play a more proactive role in ensuring the country’s growth is achieved. He noted that the dedicated and professional service rendered by the Sri Lankan expatriate workers had helped to forge closer links between Sri Lanka and Qatar.
President Rajapaksa who interacted with a wide variety of professionals during the meeting also took time to inquire about the well-being of the Sri Lankan community living in Qatar. He also briefed them about the development programs underway since the country ended its three decade long war against the LTTE.
