The interviews of the shortlisted candidates of the Best Corporate Citizen Award 2012 are currently underway at the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce. After the initial evaluation, more than a dozen organisations were shortlisted for the interviews for the Best Corporate Citizen Award and the Best CSR Project Awards.
The Best Corporate Citizen Award was commenced in 2004 as an award scheme to recognise corporate social responsibility and sustainable business practices. Over the years, the award has become a mark of quality for the noteworthy work carried out by local businesses as it is awarded by the premier business chamber of the country, the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.
Every year applications are called for the Best Corporate Citizen Award which are evaluated on the areas of environment, employee relations, customer and supplier relations, community relations and CSR, economic contribution, financial performance, governance and reporting.
An experienced evaluation panel comprising of experts from a number of relevant areas are currently conducting the interviews of the shortlisted applicants. Those who are selected as finalists will be required to make a presentation to this year’s panel of judges. The winners will be announced at the Best Corporate Citizen Award ceremony to be held on 12 November 2012 at Cinnamon Grand, Colombo.
The event will also culminate in the CSR Week which will be held from 7-12 November 2012. This first ever CSR week is jointly organised by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC), International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), CSR Asia Center at AIT and the Mangroves for the Future (MFF) Programme.
