This year, Sri Lanka will bear witness to the unique experience of hosting the ICC T20 Cricket World Cup for the first time. As fans across the nation gear up for the excitement the event will bring, Abans Ltd. is also doing their part to commemorate the occasion. Abans is the exclusive partner of LG - the global partner for the T20 Cricket World Cup 2012. In addition to the countless promotions and events that the company has already had, Abans has decided to organise the first ever ‘LG Abans T20 Walk” on 14 September, commencing from 10.30a.m. onwards.
The LG Abans T20Walk is being held as a gesture of blessing for the Sri Lankan cricket team as they enter the T20 tournament.
More than 2000 people are expected to attend the walk including staff from Abans headquarters, Abans Auto, Abans Service, Abans Tours, Showroom Managers, Customers, special clubs and societies have also been invited to attend the event. Guests of honour to the event include Abans Chairperson - Mrs. Aban Pestonjee, LG Principles, select Ministers and former Cricketers.
The Walk will begin at the Abans Headquarters on Galle Road and continue on to Liberty Plaza, Duplication Road, further past Bambalapitiya and finally come to an end once again at the Abans Headquarters.
The LG BAT that was launched at Galle Face Green on 12 August will also be joining the LG Abans T20 Walk to collect autographs of well wishing cricket fans from the cricket loving public joining the walk.
The LG BAT is in the process of travelling around the country collecting autographs from the public and it will finally be presented to the Sri Lankan cricket team at a grand ceremony before the T20 world cup begins.
Exciting events and competitions will take place during the Walk as well. Participants will receive the opportunity to walk the parade with LG Abans banners, flags and balloons.
Horse carts, stilt walkers, drummers, dancers and two elephants will also be accompanying participants throughout the parade. Many Papare teams will also be performing at the event while participants at the walk will compete for the Best Dressed Vehicle award. The best and most creatively decorated vehicle will win a grand prize.
The general public is also eligible for this grand competition and you are all encouraged to bring your own decorated vehicles and show your creativity on the streets.
