Awareness Seminar on ‘Rights & Obligations of Electricity Consumers’

An awareness seminar for the electricity consumers will be conducted by the courtesy of Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) in association with the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka on Wednesday 29 January 2014 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Chamber Auditorium 450 D.R. Wijewardene Mawatha, Colombo 10. The purpose of this seminar is to educate electricity consumers on the regulatory framework and their rights and obligations and other information that may be useful for the electricity consumer. The keynote address will be delivered by PUCSL Director General Damitha Kumarasinghe. Topics that would be discussed will be:  Rights and obligations of Consumers; Safety (indoor and outdoor); Quality and Reliability of Electricity supply; Dispute Resolution; Electricity Tariff & charges; Billing and payment, etc. by several Resource Persons from PUCSL – Deputy Director General Gamini Herath, Director Consumer Affairs Y.L. Farook, Director Regulatory Affairs Chamath Goonewardena, Director Licensing Nalin Edirisinghe, Director Tariffs and Economic Affairs Kanchana Siriwardena and Director Inspectorate Nilantha  Sapumanage. At the seminar there will also be a Panel Discussion with a question and answer session, chaired by PUCSL Deputy Director General Gamini Herath.
