Association for International Standards holds 15th AGM

The 15th Annual General Meeting of the Association for International Standards (AIS) was held at The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce recently. The Association for International Standards was incorporated in 1997 and consequently partnered with the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.

The Association has worked actively with the Sri Lankan business community introducing and promoting International Standards in the past years.

Tissa Abeyewardena, who has been the Vice President of the Association, was elected as the President and P.P Perera as the Vice President of the Association for International Standards for the period 2012/2013.

Mahinda Saranapala, Nihal Seneviratne, Rasitha Niroshana, Premasiri Gamage, Gayan Perera, I G Perera and Ruwan Kumara were elected to serve on the Committee for the period 2012/2013 whilst Priyantha Punchihewa would provide an advisory role as the immediate past president.

Abeyewardena addressing the gathering at the AGM, emphasized the importance of fulfilling the objectives of the Association and requested for full co-operation of the committee during his tenure of office. Membership of the Association is open to corporations and individual persons including students who are engaged in full time studies and interested in advancing their knowledge and skills through the AIS.  It is primarily for those who believe in and are committed towards upholding International Standards, promoted by the AIS. The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce provides Secretarial services to the Association for International Standards.
