Ambassador of the Republic of Senegal to Sri Lanka Amadou Moustapha and High Commissioner of the Republic of Rwanda Williams Nkurunziza paid a courtesy call at the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce soon after presenting their credentials to President Mahinda Rajapaksa. Ceylon Chamber of Commerce CEO/Secretary General Harin Malwatte welcomed the two dignitaries to the Chamber and briefed them about the activities of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.
As a first step towards building trade relations with Senegal and Rwanda, the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce is expected to establish relations with the Chambers of these two countries and also sign Memoranda of Understanding (MOU).
During their discussions with Malwatte, they mentioned that both Senegal and Rwanda are keen on attracting investors from Sri Lanka to invest in areas such as agriculture, value addition in tea and garments and many other industries. Later that evening High Commissioner Nkurunziza hosted a group of businessmen from the Chamber membership and Africa and Middle East Business Councils for an interactive evening.
