The Annual General Meeting of the National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka (NCE) to elect office bearers and council members for the year 2016 and to fulfil other statutory obligations will be held on 14 January at Hotel Galadari Colombo.

This year the Chamber will celebrate its 30th Anniversary along with the Annual General Meeting. Hence it will be a unique event comprising many important activities.

A senior minister of the Government is expected to grace the event as Chief Guest, while the Guest of Honour will be the Ambassador of a country which is an emerging market of Sri Lankan exports. It will also be attended by senior state officials related to exports, members of the diplomatic corps, and member exporters of the Chamber, comprising the cream of the exporter community of Sri Lanka who make a vital contribution to the economic development of Sri Lanka, contributing more than half of the foreign exchange earnings of Sri Lanka.

A highlight of the event is the keynote address that will be delivered by Hilmy Cader, well known International Management Consultant and CEO of MTI Consulting. He will assess contemporary issues related to exports in the international market place, the challenges that Sri Lanka will have to face in this background, and strategies as well as approaches that Sri Lanka could adopt to meet such challenges.

This aspect will also be looked at from the view point of the policies of the present Government related to its medium term economic development plan and policies adopted to accelerate the development of exports, as well as to promote Foreign Direct Investments, to increase production, and widen the spectrum of value added products and services including hi-tech exports.

Immediate Past President of the Chamber Dr. Jagath Peiris will deliver a brief address on the significant achievements of the Chamber over the years since its inception, and important milestones in its history.

The Chamber has also lined-up other important activities to disseminate information and knowledge to the participants of the event, particularly the exporters.

At the conclusion of the activities of the event, the gathering will be entertained to cocktails and fellowship by the Chamber.
