The Women’s Chamber of Industry and Commerce (WCIC) in a statement said it was deeply concerned about the situation that has arisen.
“We strongly believe that the constitutional rights of people should be upheld at all times. We hope justice will be served on those responsible,” it said.
“We appeal to all Sri Lankans not to be impulsive but act sensibly with restraint. We also strongly urge the Government to take immediate steps to adopt the BASL proposal to bring about political stability and focus on the economic recovery of the country to reduce the current hardships faced by our people,” WCIC added.
