The Government has decided to list the proposed Technology Park Development Company, which is fully owned by the Treasury and tasked to develop operations in five districts, on the Colombo Stock Exchange to woo private sector investment.
This initiative is a follow up to the 2021 Budget proposal of setting up of Techno Parks in Galle, Kurunegala, Anuradhapura, Kandy and Batticaloa Districts.
The Ministry of Technology has identified suitable locations for the establishment of relevant technology parks taking into account the accessibility of the expressway network, tourist attraction, availability of required human resources and other requirements.
The Government said a company named Technology Park Development Company with full share ownership by the Secretary to the Treasury would be established to lead this initiative.
“The company plans to list on the Colombo Stock Exchange and allow private investors to participate in the project,” the Government said.
A resolution incorporating these proposals submitted by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, in his capacity as the Technology Minister, was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers at its meeting on Tuesday.
