Founded in 2014, Tea Avenue is a boutique café anchored onto a legacy built by four generations of De Silvas – renowned for mastering tea blends and brews since 1936. Within five years of operation the café has made inroads into a coffee-based market with an offering of the authentic, perfectly brewed cup of legendary Ceylon Tea.

Envisioned by father-son duo Lushantha and Sajeev De Silva, Tea Avenue offered consumers the traditional beverage as an immersive, indulgent experience, successfully penetrating a market previously overshadowed by an addictive and trending coffee culture.

This is not an average café. Tea Avenue has honed a unique culture with 100% originality and personal focus deriving from its slogan – ‘New World, New Charm’ and has successfully capitalised and overcome most recent setbacks to the hospitality industry.

“We are in talks to execute franchise agreements outside Colombo based on this successful recipe that helped us rapidly expand in the capital,” Director Sajeev de Silva said. “Franchising successively across new geographic markets with similar consumer demographics is promising because we now have a recognised brand, café management expertise and benchmarked operational standards that can be leveraged by franchisees,” he added.

With over six years of experience followed by its expertise, today Tea Avenue operates in four main areas in Colombo with more prospective locations in Colombo, Jaffna, Kandy and Galle planned for 2021 thus showing aggressive growth plans. Apart from access to an established reputation, Tea Avenue offers a list of support services for potential investors including site evaluation and selection, team trainings, store design and conceptualisation, operational guidelines, marketing and business plans, local area customisation of menus as well as continuous evaluations and quality audits.

The business is looking for highly motivated individuals/corporates to invest and make a great return on their investment. Tea Avenue is keen to partner those who have a passion in managing a restaurant/café with a common goal of expanding across Sri Lanka and want to develop or offer a location and set up a Tea Avenue outlet to run and manage.

De Silva said application fee amounts to $ 180 and investment cost ranges between $ 50,000 and $ 80,000. He said breakeven is possible from the 10 months onwards whilst the payback period is within 36 months. For franchise inquiry: Email [email protected].
