Stall for Sri Lankan products opened at Spar Supermarket in Oman

Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Sultanate of Oman Ameer Ajwad opened an exclusive stall for Sri Lankan products at the prominent Spar supermarket outlet at Madinat Al Sultan Qaboos in Oman together with the CEO of Spar Oman Sridhar Moosapet. Ameer Ajwad, Spar Divisional Manager for Retail and Services, David Christudoss and Category Manager Dharmvir also joined the Ambassador during the launch. 

Embassy of Sri Lanka in Oman recently initiated export of Sri Lankan food products to Spar Supermarkets chain in Oman under the Economic Diplomacy program of the Foreign Ministry in coordination with the Sri Lanka Exports Development Board (EDB). A 20-foot container of consolidated consignment of Sri Lankan food products consisting of Munchee products and Arya food products arrived in Oman recently under this initiative. The Embassy jointly with the EDB facilitated the export of these Sri Lankan food products to Spar Oman, as a first phase, directly from Ceylon Biscuits Ltd. and Tradlanka Agricultural Enterprises Ltd. 

This is the first exclusive stall of its kind for Sri Lankan products launched at a supermarket in Oman. Ambassador Ameer Ajwad extended his appreciation to the management of Spar Oman for making this exclusive arrangement on his request. This stall also facilitates to exhibit new Sri Lankan products to the consumers. Arrangements will also be made to open such exclusive stalls at the other prominent Spar supermarket outlets in Oman.

Spar Oman is a popular supermarket chain in Oman and the Company runs 75 stores across the Sultanate of Oman. 

Sri Lanka Embassy in Muscat under the Economic Diplomacy program of the Foreign Ministry jointly with the EDB organised a B2B virtual meeting recently between Spar Oman and 16 of  Lanka’s prominent food and beverages sector companies with a view to promoting export of Sri Lankan products of food and beverages to the Sultanate of Oman.
