State Minister for Regional Cooperation Tharaka Balasuriya, Board of Investment Chairman Sanjaya Mohottala and Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner in Bangladesh Prof. Sudharshan Seneviratne last week met with officials of Bangladesh Association of Pharmaceutical Industries (BAPI) and representatives of Bangladesh’s leading pharma companies in Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka.
The meeting was on the sidelines of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa’s official visit to Bangladesh.
BOI said discussions centred around opportunities Sri Lanka is offering manufacturers to set up manufacturing locations beyond Bangladesh and also opportunities for them to supply quality pharmaceutical products into the Sri Lankan market.
BOI Chairman Mohottala shared with the delegation the progress of the Pharma zone development, incentives and underlined infrastructure that will be provided in the Pharma zone and invited them to visit Sri Lanka under the Investor Bio bubble and explore partnership and investment opportunities in Sri Lanka.
BAPI Secretary General S.M. Shafiuzzaman, Rtd. Major General Md Mustafizur Rahman, Mojibul Islam, MD of Amico Laboratories Ltd., Mosaddek Hossain from UniMed UniHealth Pharmaceuticals Ltd., Md. Halimuzzaman, DMD and CEO of Health Care Pharmaceuticals Ltd., Rabbur Rezza Chief Operating Officer from Beximco Pharmaceuticals Ltd., and other industry veterans participated for this discussion.
