The Sri Lanka-Malaysia Business Council (SLMBC) of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce successfully concluded a Trade and Investment Promotion Mission to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 12-14 November.
The delegation consisted eight leading organisations i.e. Aitken Spence Shipping Ltd., International Scholar Educational Service Ltd., Mechmar Cochran Lanka Ltd., Ilham Inspiration Sri Lanka, Ranjan Nadesapillai Associates, Spillburg Holdings Ltd., Macksons Lanka Ltd., Ceylon Chamber of Commerce. Sri Lanka-Malaysia Business Council President Iqram Cuttilan led the delegation while SLMBC Secretariat of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce coordinated this out bound mission.
The delegation met with the following Institutions in Malaysia who also arranged B2B meetings with various Malaysian companies: Sri Lanka High Commission in Malaysia, Sri Lanka Malaysia Business Chamber (MSLBC), Malaysian International Development Agency (MIDA), Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM), Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KLSICCI), National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (NCCIM), Associated Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM), The Malaysian Associated Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (MAICCI).
This visit in in accordance with the MOU signed by the SLMBC and MSLBC in 2014 wherein the two Business Councils will promote business ties between the two countries with regular visits of business delegation between Malaysia and Sri Lanka. The face to face contact is very important to build relationships and business links.
SLMBC President Iqram Cuttilan expressed his sincere appreciation to Sri Lanka Malaysia Business Chamber (MSLBC) Chairman Dato Kulasegaran Sabaratnam and Members of the MSLBC for arranging meetings with the various Chambers, Government entities and the Sri Lanka High Commission in Malaysia as well as B2B meetings with companies in Malaysia.
During the visit the delegation was able to meet with numerous Malaysian companies. This visit also helped promote ties between organisations in our two countries and the delegation is very upbeat that this was a very fruitful visit. The SLMBC believes that this visit will definitely strengthen the ties between SLMBC and the MSLBC as well as immensely assist in establishing potential business contacts and promote bilateral business between Sri Lanka and Malaysia.
